Now be warned though, you don't get bang for your buck with Live. being able to bring up the list of assignable CC parameters for VSTi. being able to call up patch names from VSTi that don't have a patch selection window, and 2. Live also makes midi implementations much easier as well. In contrast, live allows you to work in columns, with the effects either in a send / return, master or as inserts right at the bottom of the window. #2 problem, to a lesser extent was the effects. I kept trying to make it do that and i was frustrated to no end. FL wasn't made to handle 15 different tracks, and if you try to do it, they get easily lost and confused. However, the £199 price for Logic includes all the stock plugins: reverbs, delay, EQ, some crazy compressors (the list goes. As you can see, unless you opt for the the FL Studio All Plugins Edition, these two DAWs are fairly even in terms of price. I just don't care for having copy everything (drums, bass, synths ect) to new patterns an then just changing one or two lines I like having everything separated. FL Studio’s price depends on the edition you go for. My #1 problem with fruity loops was I didn't like how it handled patterns. Well, here's my opinion and i'm a former FL user who converted to ableton. What would you guys suggest going with? I know even the most expensive brands usually offer a cheap, limited version - might be worth starting there? Logic is probably out of my budget unless I can get some kind of crazy discount just for being a college student (I'm not even a music major if that matters), anyone know if that's possible? So I guess I'm looking at Pro Tools or Cubase.Īll I really like to do is put together techno, house, hip-hop style beats and stuff like that - I don't have a huge collection of fancy hardware or anything built up already so I really can't take full advantage of any software BUT I don't want to get started with the wrong one due to current limitations only to find out I'll need to learn something entirely new down the line Logic -> Pro Tools -> Cubase -> FL studioĪs far as I know there aren't any real producers who use FL Studio. From what I understand, a few of the big names in order of best -> worst would look like this: *cough* demo *cough* version of FL Studio 8 but I need to commit to one piece of software (budget) and figured I'd get some advice about what people here prefer before starting to build up a huge collection of projects and whatnot. ![]()
